A memorial service, celebrating the 88 years of life, for Ruth Griffith South will be held Saturday, March 1, 2014, 1 p.m. at Kilbourne Park Baptist Church. Mrs. South was predeceased by her husband, William H. South, Jr. She was born in Ware Shoals, SC to L. Vernon Griffith and Billie C. Griffith.
Surviving are sons William H. South, III (Patsy), and Brian L. South,(Cynthia);five grandchildren, William H. South, IV (Kimberly), Brian L. "Bo" South, Jr.(Danielle), Leigh South Howell (Kevin), Blair M. South, P. Beren South and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, J. Ronald Griffith (Toni) and L. Terry Griffith (Elaine). She was predeceased in death by brothers, Kenneth, Ray and Jack Griffith, and sisters, Kate Finley and Eleanor Speaker.
Mrs. South retired from Sears after 30 years of service as a division manager. Her entire life was devoted to God, Family and Church.
