Welcome to the memorial page for

Margaret Rikard Whittle Mooney

August 11, 2013 ~ August 11, 2013
Margaret Rikard Whittle Mooney passed away on August 11, 2013 at the age of 80. As a woman who had a strong faith in God, she taught us how to live and she taught us how to die.
Margaret was the daughter of the late Clarence M. and Gladys Wilson Rikard, born November 30, 1932, in West Columbia, South Carolina. She attended the historic New Brookland School and graduated from Brookland Cayce High School. She grew up in West Columbia and raised her family in Cayce. Although she loved to travel, she always said that it was good to be back home in West Columbia where she resided for the past 33 years.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13, at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 "B" Avenue in West Columbia, where she was a member, with burial at Celestial Gardens in West Columbia. Visitation will be held at the church from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church..
Margaret retired from Nations Bank (formerly C&S Bank), having worked most of her years at the Knox Abbott Drive, Cayce, branch. She was a former member of the Palmetto Sandlappers Camping Club, the Mil Wit's RV Club and Faith Lutheran Church in West Columbia. She served as a volunteer at Lexington Medical Center and was active in the Mt. Tabor quilters' group. But her most important role was being Nana to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. To them and to her children, she was the most remarkable person, who lived out her faith every day. Everyone loved to spend time at Nana's, especially when it included her Nana breakfasts and homemade ice cream.
Margaret is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Whittle Bell (David), Carol Whittle Sease (Paul), Kay Whittle Boyce (Don), Rhonda Whittle Morrison (Venning); seven grandchildren and their spouses, John Bell (Laura), Lisa Bell Crouch (Dan), Melissa Sease Hooker (Gary), Kristin Boyce Dittl (Keith), Amy Sease Morrison (Adam), Joel Boyce (Amanda) and Leland Morrison (Lauren); and 15 great-grandchildren with the 16th due in November. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Larry Sease, and a sister-in-law, Vivian Whittle Blackston.
Besides her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her husbands, Robert (Bobby) E. Whittle in 1995 and Allen R. Mooney 2012; her sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy Rikard Sease, Colette Rikard Hutto and Andrew J. Hutto; and grandson, Robert Boyce.
The family wishes to thank Tri-County Hospice and Deepwood Estates for their wonderful care and kindness. A special thank-you to Anita Hutto Stokes for helping care for her Aunt Margaret. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, 1000 "B" Avenue, West Columbia, SC 29169 or to Tri-County Hospice, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29210.
