Elease Sox Smith

Services for Elease Sox Smith, 72, will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Gilbert with the Rev. George Koon officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Melvin Hartley, Kendle Clamp, Harold Miller, Imon Shealy, Carl Hite and W. Mark Cain. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Barr-Price Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gilbert Children's Ministry, 441 Lewie Street Gilbert, SC

Mrs. Smith died Tuesday February 16, 2010. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late George Earl and Ollie Mae Corley Sox. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gilbert and worked with the Children's Sunday school, and retired from Roof Basket Works. She enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens and sharing with family and friends.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Marcen L. Smith, children, Edward Smith, Ray (Donna) Smith, and Evelyn (Steve) Turner of Leesville, brother, George W. Sox of West Columbia, sisters, Margaret Zissette, Earline Hite and Gladys Keisler of West Columbia, Betty Smith of Lexington, grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Cain, Joshua and Justin Smith, great-grandchildren, Mark, Matthew and Mason Cain.
She was predeceased by sisters, Frances Goff and Nettie Shull.
