Cornelia N Thomas

Cornelia “Connie” Thomas, 79, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Agape Hospice of Lexington, SC.
Born March 5, 1938, in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Leonard and Lois Murphy Nalley. Connie was a graduate of Newberry High School, Class of 1956.  Connie worked in numerous capacities during her lifetime: Merrill Lynch, Columbia Silica, Colite, Lexington School District Two, Jackie’s Day Care, and most recently as Co-Owner of Thomas Mechanical; however, the position she will best be remembered for was her ability to be a gracious hostess, a devoted wife,  a loving mother and a dear friend to those fortunate enough to know her.
 Connie was a former member of Dunn’s Chapel Church and The Chapel of Redemption, where she served in various capacities as Youth Leader, Women’s Ministries, and cook.  Connie was a fabulous cook, her made from scratch pound cakes could not be reproduced.  Every holiday she opened her home to her many friends and family to enjoy her many specialties- Swedish meatballs, BBQ wings, lemon squares, squash casserole, potato salad, spinach dip, and endless other scrumptious foods.  Her hobbies included collecting cookbooks, trying new recipes, sewing, and collecting teapots.  Every new bride looked forward to her handwritten cookbooks, and every expectant mother could expect a handmade baby blanket.
 Connie was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Hermon Ray Nalley of Prosperity, and her beloved middle son, William Leonard “Lenny” Thomas (April 19, 2001).
 Connie Thomas is survived by her loving husband of almost 57 years, Robert Mills Thomas, Sr.; two sons, Robert “Robby” Mills Thomas, Jr. and Eben McDowell Thomas and wife, Tracy of West Columbia, SC; grandchildren; Ashley Thomas Pye of Greenville, SC, Collin and Scott Thomas of Georgia; Erin Thomas of Georgia, and Dyllon Thomas of West Columbia, and a sister Betty Nalley Roberts Dugas of  Florence, SC.
 The family will receive friends Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Barr-Price Funeral Homes at 609 Northwood Road, Lexington, SC 29072 from 7:00-9:00 PM.
