Bobbie Thrailkill Black

Mrs. Bobbie Elizabeth Thrailkill Black crossed over peacefully Thursday morning on September 29, 2022 after an extended illness. Born in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Eltise D. Thrailkill Moore and Robert O. “Bud” Thrailkill and lived in the city for most of her 88 years. She was married to E. Royce Black and had the important job of homemaker as long as their three children remained at home. She then worked in the Nursing Education Office at Crafts-Farrow Hospital until her retirement in 1993. Bobbie enjoyed her hobbies of traveling, various crafts and visiting with family and friends. She was a lifelong member of Reformation Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel is assisting the family.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth B. Kiesling (Bill) of Batesburg; son, George R. Black (Anne); daughter-in-law, Angie P. Black; sisters-in-law, Belinda Hollis and Janice Black; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends; all whom will miss her benevolent presence greatly.

Bobbie was predeceased by her husband of 39 years and one son, E. Royce “Buddy” Black Jr.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Newberry County Hospital, 3rd floor staff, for the excellent medical care and many kindnesses they gave Bobbie and family during these final days. The family would also like to appreciate the care given by Saluda Nursing Center, Riley Unit Staff.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 at Reformation Lutheran Church, 1118 Union Street, Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Church Parlor.
