After a brief career in the U.S. Army in West Germany, Dick began a long career in Farm Credit before opening Holstein Appraisals in Batesburg in 1988, where he worked until his very last week. Dick was a loving father, an artist, avid golfer, faithful church member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and a leader in his field of agricultural real estate appraisal. He was an innovator in his industry and developed procedures and wrote software early on in the evolution of the appraisal industry that are still in use today. In his later years, the greatest joy in his life was being “Pop” to his three loving granddaughters Poppin, Stella, and Sarah
