 Charles Darwin McDonald, 60, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2017.  Family visitation will be held at 5:30pm, followed by memorial services at 7:00pm on August 17 at Columbia First SDA Church, 243 Riverchase Way Lexington, SC 29072.

Born in Bainbridge, MD, Darwin was the son of Norma Strader McDonald Hudgins and the late Robert Darwin McDonald. He married the love of his life, Deborah (Debbie) Leigh Gibson, on September 20, 1981.  More joy was added to their home with the birth of son, Christian, followed by their daughter, Kimberlyn.

Darwin was a member of Columbia First Seventh Day Adventist Church, where he was an Elder and Treasurer and loved to sing. He enjoyed golf and being a radio personality with Magic 95.9 in Plymouth, NC. After a 30-year career with McDonald’s franchisee Main Waters, in 2006 he joined Golden State Foods as a Lexington associate and was an active GSF Foundation volunteer. This year he was chair in the initiative to provide backpacks for Columbia area first graders as well as golf tournament chair.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie McDonald; son, Robert Christian McDonald; daughter, Kimberlyn Elizabeth McDonald; his mother, Norma and step-father, Schaub "Papa Slim" Hudgins; brother, Spencer Harlan McDonald (Mary Jo).  Uncle David and Aunt Ellen McDonald of Asheville, NC. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Steven Wayne McDonald.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Darwin's memory to the Golden State Foods Foundation, Golden State Foods, 2588 Two Notch Road Lexington, SC 29072.
