Willie Charles Bowen, age 93, passed away peacefully in hospice care at Baptist Hospital on July 12, 2025. He was born on February 16, 1932, in Rhine, Georgia.
Willie proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, he earned a degree in Textile Engineering from North Carolina State University. He went on to enjoy a long tenure with Eastman Kodak, retiring after 28 years, and later founded his own successful chemical sales company. He always had a passion for sales which began with the Fuller Brush Company where he mentored many in the sales industry.
Willie was a man of integrity, intelligence, and devotion to his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Brigitte Bowen; sons, Steve Bowen (Rossie) and Jeffrey Bowen; daughter, Beverly Wyka (Mike); and stepson Michael Jett (Liz).
He was a proud grandfather to Brad Bowen, Casey Bowen (Amy), Nikki Bowman, Rachel Wyka, Cameron Bowen, Andrew Wyka, Cody Bowen, Jordan Meyerand (Eric), and Alex Jett, and a beloved great-grandfather to 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father Bill Bowen; mother, Mary Bowen; sisters, Eucal Bowen and Lucille Powell; his son, Kevin Bowen; and grandson Mathew Bowen.
Willie was a longtime member of Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Cayce, SC.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Cayce, SC. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am. Burial will then take place at 2:00 pm at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to NC State College of Textile Engineering, in memory of Willie Charles Bowen.
