William "Skeet" Vereen

William “Skeet” Porter Vereen, age 63, of Saluda, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, South Carolina. Born on January 19, 1962, in Newberry, South Carolina, Skeet was a familiar and friendly face to many.

He is survived by his loyal canine companion, Sidekick; his loving sister, Kay Vereen Rodgers; his son, William Sam Vereen; and his grandchildren, Zayden Richard Vereen, Paizlee Rayn Vereen, and Millie JoLee Vereen.

Skeet was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Jessie Lee Cockrell Vereen, and his father, Sam Porter Vereen.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Skeet's memory consider a donation to the Shriners Hospital for Children or the Outdoor Dream Foundation.
