Mr. William Furman Roof, 83, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 7, 2026. He was born on November 1, 1942 in Lexington County, South Carolina to the late Henry Roof and Elizabeth Smith Roof. William worked in the construction industry where he was a retired painter. He loved to tinker and fix things, always doing it “his way”. William enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and his Chihuahuas; which he called them his “babies”.
Surviving are his daughters, Rose Roof (William), and Susan Roof; former son-in-law that he considered as his son, Frank King; brothers, Thomas Roof, Richard Roof, and Howard Roof; grandchildren, Christina Roof, and Kelly McLendon; and great-grandchildren, Leighanna Garner, and Ryleigh Garner.
William was predeceased by his wife, Jackie Black Roof; and sister, Shirley Roof.
A celebration of life will be held privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Roof family with arrangements.
