William R. Hood

West Columbia- Funeral services for William Robin Hood will be conducted 10:00AM, Monday, June 20, 2022 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. Visitation will precede the service at the funeral home from 9:00AM – 10:00AM.

Robin lost his battle with MDS (blood cancer) complicated by Felty Syndrome on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, in the Agape Hospice House in Lexington. He was born in Columbia, SC, on January 5, 1950, to Furman A. and Colleen Bolick Hood. He graduated from Olympia High School before joining the US Army. Robin served his country faithfully for more than 11 years and fought bravely in the Vietnam War as a door gunner on a UH-1 Huey Helicopter. While in the military, Robin graduated from the University of Maryland. He served as a Crew Chief and Weapon Systems Mechanic in peacetime. A lifelong servant, Robin joined the Civil Service as a postal worker at the Cayce-West Columbia Post Office until retirement. Robin loved all things water and spent tons of time on Lake Murray teaching his boys how to water-ski and navigate the lake. Later in his retirement, he enjoyed visiting yard sales every weekend with the love of his life and friends.

Surviving is his life partner of more than 35 years, Betty Pound; sons, Chris Lucas (Meredith), Brian Hood (Stacey), and Jerry Hood (Alison); 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sister, June Campbell; brothers, Tom (Nan) and Randy (Kelly).
