Wanda Pickles Roberts Obituary

Wanda Pickles Roberts, 80 of Lexington SC passed away on Monday August 4th, 2025. Wanda was born in Monticello Florida and was the daughter of Alex and Lucile Pickles. She moved to Atlanta and graduated from Grady Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1966. It was during this time she met her best friend Sallie Pitts Floyd and will forever affectionately be known as “Pickles” by the Grady ladies who were her friends for life. Wanda’s wit was the life of this group and helped them all through the difficult times at nursing school. Nursing was her passion for 44 years. She helped others and inspired many more to enter the field of nursing, including her daughter Michelle. On December 21, 1979 she married Stanley Roberts, they were married for 38 years. She was Gaga to those who held her closest. Her family was the love of her life; she was always there. Wanda was fierce, a force to be reckoned with, she raised strong independent daughters who will carry on that legacy. She had other “daughters” that she loved like her own, Shelley, Mandy, Tammy and Katie. Her grandchildren Chandler, Tillman and Madeline spent their days after school playing at Gaga’s house, going to Starbucks, visiting museums and having fun. Her oldest grandson David gave her 3 beautiful great grandsons. Being Gaga was her favorite job.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; her parents, Alex and Lucile; her favorite sister, Martha (Barney); brothers, John lee (Virginia) and Phillip; her stepchildren, Calvin and Renee.

She is survived by her daughters, Michelle (Jeff), and Wendy (Todd); her grandchildren, David (Samantha), Chandler, Tillman, Madeline; great-grandsons, Daniel, Dominic and Samuel, her siblings; Alex (Mary), LeGrand (Susan), Terry (Vicky), Edna (Carl), Debbie June (Harold), Anderson (Deborah); her stepsons, Stan and Mark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
