Walter G. Holland Obituary

Walter G. Holland, born on April 21, 1951, and at 70 years of age, went to his heavenly home, Tuesday, January 4, 2022. Walter, like his brothers, had a quick sense of humor, entertained his nieces and nephews with funny stories and always had a great plan in mind, particularly for Christmas and birthday gifts that gave uniqueness to simple themes and were hilarious. There are many memories of this type as one year all gifts had to come from a convenience store, there was an animal theme with either fish or a kitten as some gifts, and other fun ideas such as coupons for free taxi rides should they ever need them.

Walter had many interests and gifts he passionately shared with his family and friends particularly writing, painting and photography. If he drew your name for the family gift exchange, he gave something that he made with thought, love and care. His interests were as wide and as unique as his personality. As a pre-teen he built his first boat and later refinished a sail boat on the seashores of North Carolina. Another small fishing boat was built in the last few years for camping and fishing on the Congaree River with his brothers. He never met a stranger and he had many friends. He was also a great dancer making sure that at family weddings, he always took a turn with the bride.

As number two in the Holland brother’s lineup, he is survived by William, better known as Bill (Libby), Warren, known to family and close friends as Dennis (Denise), Patrick, his longtime lovely companion, Elneita Baggot, his favorite nieces and nephews, Monica Cumalander (TJ), Hunter Holland (Kristen), Warren P. Holland (Allison) and Memory Ridgeway (Bennett) along with six great-nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by his dad, Wade E. Holland, Jr., his mom, Lois Lazar, and his oldest brother, Wade E. Holland, III.

In memory of Walter, the family asks that you take a child fishing, show them how to tie knots and enjoy some southern cooking.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
