W. Ray Fox
Batesburg—Graveside service for W. Ray Fox, 100, will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Ridge Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday morning from 10:00 to 10:45 A.M. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Batesburg-General Fund, 436 W. Church St., Batesburg, SC 29006.
Mr. Fox passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023. Born in Leesville he was a son of the late Eugene C. and Willie Mae Cato Fox. He was retired from the service station business, and was a World War II veteran, a Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, participating in campaigns in France-Germany, Holland and the Battle of Bastogne. He received The Purple Heart, Bronze Star, EAME Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and Arrowhead, Distinguished Unit Citation, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Emblem, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Belgian Fourrangere, Netherlands Orange Lanyard, and Good Conduct Medal. He was a Life Member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, 101st Airborne Division Association and a member of First Baptist Church of Batesburg.
Surviving are his son, Bruce Fox (Joanna) of Columbia and daughter-in-law, Donna Fox, 4 grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Sara Holmes Fox and a son Keith Fox.
