Virginia Mathis "Ginny" Nevins Obituary

Virginia Mathis "Ginny" Nevins, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026. Born in Albany, GA, Ginny was a spirited soul who brought joy to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was a dedicated and generous woman, always putting the needs of others before her own.

Ginny spent her working years in banking. She later moved to Lexington, South Carolina, after previously living in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Beyond her professional life, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lexington and was known for her incredible talents in the kitchen. Lovingly known by her family as Prissy and Nana, Ginny was particularly renowned for her banana pudding, a treat cherished by all. Besides her culinary pursuits, she enjoyed playing Canasta with the girls. But most of all, what mattered most to Ginny were her grandchildren, for whom she held an immeasurable amount of love and affection. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Ginny is survived by her daughter Allyson Sandifer and son-in-law Steve Sandifer, her granddaughter Greer Sandifer, and step-son John "Sandy" Nevins (Debbie). She was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Vera Mathis, her husband John "Bill" Nevins, grandson Kyle Sandifer, and step-daughter Carol Alphin, and their reconciliation brings her family great peace.
