Vernelle Lucas Shumpert Hall, 88, of Gaston, SC passed away June 15, 2026. Born on March 17, 1938 in Woodford, SC she was a daughter of the late Julius Lester Lucas and Eva Brown Lucas.
She always made everyone family or friends feel welcome, comfortable, and loved at home. Mrs. Hall was a Christian woman who shared the love of Christ in so many ways. She could be feisty at times, when she needed to be but she always got her message/point across. Her favorite things were butterflies, hummingbirds, and pansies.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory and life she lived. Surviving include her son, Boyd Keith Shumpert (Joyce); daughter, Karen S. Grandy (Mike); grandchildren, Ashley Powell Pendleton (David Rish), Justin Shumpert (Maddie), David I. Shumpert, Jr. (Courtney Nichols), Karley Williams (Chase), and PJ Shumpert; great-grandchildren, Billy Powell, Kayla Sturkie, Kelsey Shumpert, Parker Shumpert, Riley Shumpert, Reece Chapman, Luke Shumpert, Oaklee Shumpert, Rowan Shumpert, Cameron Williams, Avery Williams, Ariah Williams, and Lennix Williams; and many extended family members.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Boyd Ira Shumpert and Edward T. Hall; sons, David I. Shumpert, Sr. and Ronald W. Shumpert; 1 grandson, Michael Boyd Grandy; and 7 siblings.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation for the love and awesome care given by Amedysis Hospice; especially nurses Kim, Ladonya, and Heather.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
