Anthony “Tony” A. Hendrix, 81, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2026, in West Columbia, South Carolina. Born on August 3, 1944, in Ninety Six, South Carolina, Tony lived a life enriched by family, service, and quiet joys.
He was a devoted husband to Agnes Hendrix; and a proud father to Dale Miller (Sonya) and Brad Miller (Cindy). He also held close the memory of his late son, Todd Hendrix and was predeceased by his parents, CJ and Eunice Hendrix; and a brother, Jimmy Hendrix.
Tony leaves behind his sister, Elaine Hendrix; his niece, Paula Hendrix; five grandchildren, Brannon Miller (Kaylie), Josh Miller (Nicole), Presley Kirven (Brice), Hannah Johnson (Alex), and Alex Hendrix; as well as five great-grandchildren, Carter, Weston, Sophia, Remi, and Amelia.
Tony served in the Army National Guard for several years, demonstrating commitment and pride in serving his country. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling self-employed career as a metal fabricator that eventually led to retirement—granting him more time to enjoy the hobbies he cherished most.
He found peace in casting a fishing line, excitement in exploring with his metal detector, and connection through ham radio conversations. These simple pleasures brought him happiness throughout the years.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the sanctuary of Elmwood Church of God, 1427 Elmwood Ave., Columbia, SC 29201. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026 at 11:00am at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be made in his memory to his beloved church, Elmwood Church of God. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
Tony will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. His unwavering faith and quiet strength left an indelible mark on those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort and joy to all whose lives he touched.
