Pelion- Tommy Farrell Chavis, 77, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025. He was born on December 26, 1947 to the late Ralph and Mary Williams Chavis. He is survived by his sons, Christopher F. (Angela) Chavis and Robert G. (Jackie) Chavis; step children, Valerie Lanier and Henry Lanier; brothers, Richard Chavis, Bruce Chavis, Eddie Chavis; sister, Jackie Hoover; 11 grandchildren; and multiple great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Bertha Louise Chavis; brothers, LT Chavis, Jackie Chavis, Larry Chavis, Ralph “Jr” Chavis, and Billy Chavis; sisters, Betty Sue Quarles and Mary Ellen Huggins.
Tommy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was employed by Sunbird Boats and Ouikrete until retiring at 62. In his spare time he raised show chickens winning many awards. He was an avid fisherman and consumer of his catch. Tommy loved older cars and trucks and collected many die cast cars and trucks.
A graveside service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Oaklawn Cemetery 1200 Pine Street Pelion, SC 29123 with Pastor Grover Williams officiating. Pallbearers will be CJ Chavis, Darren Smith, Jr Chavis, Lance Edwards, Timothy Chavis, and David Bise. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the cemetery. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
