Mr. Tommie Leroy Etheredge, Sr., 82, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, July 21, 2025 at Lexington Medical Center Extended Care. He was born on April 30, 1943 in Lexington County, South Carolina to the late Oscar William Etheredge and the late Hattie Bell Brunson Etheredge. Tommie worked hard in the manufacturing industry where he would later retire from Berwick-Offray, formerly known as Hartwell Industries in Batesburg-Leesville. He was an avid outdoorsman, where he loved to deer hunt. In addition to both of his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Willie Roye Etheredge,Sr., Mallasee Etheredge, Arthur W. Etheredge, Sr., Frank Etheredge, Elease Etheredge Adams,James “J.B.” Etheredge, Annease Etheredge and Jimmie L. Etheredge.
Tommie is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Betty Jo Marks Etheredge of the home; two sons, Evangelist Tommie L. (Kersha) Etheredge, Jr. of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and Danny Ray Marks of Lexington, South Carolina; a daughter, Angela Rowe of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; a brother, Johnnie C. Etheredge of Batesburg-Leesville, SouthCarolina; a sister, Mary Ruth Etheredge of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Doris Barnes and Mary Barnes, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina; three brothers-in-law, Wilbert Adams and Leon Barnes, both of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina and David Bowman of Greenville, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, Lamont Rowe, O’Neil Rowe, Rayshaun Marks, Danielle Marks, Joclyn Etheredge, Arden Etheredge and Jada Etheredge; five great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and many friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services to honor his life will be conducted at 12:00 noon - Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel with the Evangelist Tommie L. Etheredge, Jr., Prophetess Jennie Cummings and Rev. Donnie Cobbs officiating. Burial will follow at St. John CME Church Cemetery – Leesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
