Timothy Clark Obituary

On Saturday, February 15, 2020, Timothy Gene Clark, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 63, surrounded by a loving circle of family and friends.

Affectionately known as “Tim” or “Timmy,” he was born February 22, 1956 in Dayton, Tennessee to Gene Clark and the late Elizabeth “Bettye” Sharpe Clark.  At the age of two, Tim moved to Ringgold, Georgia.  Ringgold is the town where Tim lived, loved, and called home until the fall of 2018 when he relocated to his wife’s hometown of Lexington, SC to spend his final years.

Tim attended Ringgold High School where he excelled on the football, golf, track and wrestling teams. Timmy was voted “Most Courteous” all four years of high school by his classmates who recognized his kind and compassionate spirit early in life.  After high school, he continued his education at Dalton State College.  Tim said one of his few regrets in life was not attending his beloved University of Georgia, but that didn’t stop him from being a devoted Bulldog fan.  Go Dawgs!

He spent the majority of his working years in Sales at Modern Maid Appliance, Walter Jackson Chevrolet, and Chattanooga Precast Corporation, where he retired from in 2018.  Tim was initiated as a Freemason in February of 1992 and rose to Master Mason in April of 1992.  Tim was an avid golfer. He loved to study history, particularly the Civil War.  He was a proud founding member of Recovery at Ringgold, a Christ-centered recovery program based out of Ringgold United Methodist Church.  Affectionately referred to as “The Honorary Mayor of Ringgold” by his friends, Tim never met a stranger. He knew everyone in Ringgold, and everyone knew him.  He was known for his kind and compassionate spirit and his infectious laugh.  He was deeply loved and will be missed by many.

Tim will be remembered as a godly man, good husband, father, son, and friend, who refused to give up no matter the obstacle God put before him.  He always chose to look at all of the positive things that came in response to all the obstacles he faced in life, rather than the negative aspects.  He will especially be remembered for his strong faith in God and his loving relationship with his wife and children.

He is survived by his wife, Melony Martin Clark of Lexington, SC; son, Daniel Jackson Clark of Big Sky, Montana; step children, Bryan Simpson of Columbia, SC, Shera Simpson (Jeremy Fitzpatrick) of Tamarindo, Costa Rica, and Lesley Simpson of Ringgold, GA; his father, Gene Clark; and sister, Nina Crawford (Mike) all of Ringgold, GA, a granddaughter, Carolina Lucia Fitzpatrick; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved dearly. Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth “Bettye” Sharpe Clark of Ringgold, GA.
