Mr. Thomas “Tommy” Edward Penick, 71, of Saluda entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. He was born on May 31, 1954 in Batesburg, South Carolina to the late Thomas Robert Penick and Helen Alice Howard Doff. Tommy was a business owner where he owned and operated Electone Battery for over 18 years. He loved his career and found enjoyment in getting to know his customers personally. Tommy was an avid animal lover, especially loving his dogs, Johnny and Whiskey. If you knew Tommy you know that he loved life and never met a stranger. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family at his home on Sundance, and loved Sunday afternoon joy rides in “Old Blue”. He also was a member of the Batesburg-Leesville Masonic Lodge #138.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Marcia Wessinger Penick; children, Elizabeth Penick (Chad Howard), Melissa Ocheltree (RJ), and Joseph Penick, (Devan); step-children, Travis Mitchell (Jamie), Chris Mitchell, and Megan Crouch (Jeff); grandchildren, Allie, Tyler, Campbell, Camden, Hudsyn, Calyn, Maddox, and Thomas “Banks”; brother, Robert Penick (Sandra); nephew, Robert E. “Chip” Penick, and his former wife and mother of his children, Becky Shealy Penick.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Saluda Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff McCartney officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Butler Methodist Church Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be Sammy Hawkins, Lee Herlong, Mike Mannel, Noah Minick, and Al Risinger. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Butler Church Preschool, 295 Big Creek Road, Saluda SC 29138.
