Thomas "Thom" New, Sr.

Services for Thomas “Thom” M. New, Sr., 81, will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Rehoboth Methodist Church of Lake Murray with the Rev. Mark English officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Rehoboth Methodist Church of Lake Murray, 3676 Holley Ferry Rd., Leesville, SC 29070 or to Samaritans Purse (SamaritansPurse.org).

Mr. New passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026.  Born in Aiken, he was a son of the late Hunter H. New and Ruth Perkins New. Thom graduated from Aiken High School and went on to earn degrees from North Greenville University and William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.  He was a member of Rehoboth Methodist Church of Lake Murray and retired as a Sales Manager.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia “Pat” Powell New, children, Thomas Marshall New, Jr. (Maggie), Sharon Elizabeth New Black (Tom), Jonathan Edward Campbell  (Melissa) and Thomas Michael New (Amy), 8 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a special niece, Brenda Hall. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Joyce New Willing, brothers, Hunter H. New, Jr., and Ronald O. New. The family would like to give a special thank you to Brandi Hallman with Amedisys Hospice and Angie Chavis with Visiting Angels for their loving care.
