Thomas Jeffrey Foster Obituary

Thomas Jeffrey Foster, “Jeff”, 77, son of the late Eunice Hutchinson Foster and Henry Grady Foster, entered the gates of Heaven on March 19, 2024. He peacefully passed away at Still Hopes Episcopal Center.

He is survived by his two daughters, Mandy Snipes (Don) of Lexington, South Carolina, Laurie Brown (Mitch) of Bluffton, South Carolina, and a loving sister, Sharon Marchant Crump (John) of Winston Salem; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jeff was predeceased by his loving wife of 54 years, Claire Dominy Foster and by his dear siblings, Gloria Muncey, Sylvia Lotterhos, Dan Foster, and Henry Grady Foster, Jr.

He was “Papa” to his four precious grandchildren, Foster and Taylor Snipes, and Arden and Ella Mae Brown. Jeff loved being a Daddy to his two girls. They were his pride and joy. He loved his family dearly, both near and far, and was always thinking of them and others before himself.

Jeff was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church in his early years and then a member of St. David Lutheran Church. Jeff was a member of the Lutheran Church Men’s Group at Mt. Tabor.

He was a 1964 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School. Following graduation, Jeff served in the Army National Guard. Early in his working career, he worked at Marchant Produce Company with his brother-in-law, the late Donald Heyward Marchant, for six years, and periodically drove a Semi truck. For the majority of his career, he was employed as a supervisor at BellSouth for 29 years. After retirement from BellSouth, he worked for a stint as a driver for the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind. Jeff always was a dedicated employee, who taught others how to have a strong, honest work ethic.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Karin Jenkins and the caring staff of Prisma Hospice that helped him be more comfortable in his last remaining days. We also wish to thank Dr. Edwards and Dr. Hirth and their wonderfully caring staff at Still Hopes Episcopal Center. Daddy had many loving angels who took care of him at Still Hopes, that became his friends, with special nicknames he created for them. We will forever be grateful to our family and his high school and work friends for all their love and support.

Memorial services for Jeff will be held at St. David Lutheran Church on Sunday, March 24th, 2024, with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral at 3:00 pm, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
