Thomas Alva Lucas

Thomas Alva Lucas, 80, went to be with our Lord Saturday, September 2, 2023.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, with 12:00 p.m. burial to follow  at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at the funeral home.

Thomas was born September 11, 1942 to the late Lloyd Warren Lucas and Lillian Sharpe Lucas. He resided in Cayce, South Carolina with the love of his life of 61 years, Marion Elaine Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; sons, David (Dawn), Carl (Yolanda), Tony (Denise), Jamie (Crystal); 8 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. 

He was predeceased by 2 great grandchildren and a daughter-in-law.

Thomas was a decorated military veteran and retired after fighting 2 tours in the Vietnam War and serving 21 years in the Army. His awards include: Silver Star, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Valor-2 awards, Purple Heart, Air Medal-2 awards, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal 1st Class, Vietnam Civic Actions award, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with 2 awards, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Silver Star, Expert Infantry Badge, Combat Infantry Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Parachute Badge, Good Conduct Medal 5th award, and Jungle Expert Badge.

Thomas also served as Springdale Police Chief for 9 years and retired in 1996.

He dedicated his life to his country and his family.
