Lexington-Mr. Silas Burwick Jr., 87, passed away Friday, March 26, 2021. Born January 8, 1934 in Columbia, SC, to the late Silas Burwick Sr. and Mary Colter Burwick. Silas, better known as Pops, grew up in North, South Carolina. For the last 50 plus years he resided in Lexington, South Carolina.
Silas worked as an Industrial Mechanic for 45 years before retiring. Before moving in with his son and his family, he could always be found sitting on his front porch waving to all those who passed by. The last year and a half of his life, you could find him doting on his two youngest granddaughters who were his pride and joy.
Silas is survived by his son, Tyrone Burwick; daughter in law, Emilie “Emma” Burwick; grandchildren, Kade Jeffries, Karter Jeffries, Eva Burwick, and Melinda Burwick; son, Al Burwick; daughter in law, Thomasine Burwick; sons, Henry Burwick and Bruce Burwick; brothers, Enoch Burwick, Solomon Burwick (Ella Mae Burwick), and Johnny Jones; sister, Lucy Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
In addition to Silas’ parents, Silas is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Mae Burwick (James); brother, LD Burwick; sisters, Margaret McNeely and Willie Mae Hill; and daughter, Alice White.
A graveside service will be held 1 PM Monday, March 29, 2021 at Southland Memorial Gardens 700 W. Dunbar Road, West Columbia, South Carolina, 29072. The family will receive visitors following the service and throughout the evening until 6pm at the home of Tyrone and Emilie Burwick, 437 Bronze Drive, Lexington, South Carolina, 29072. We do ask that masks and social distancing be observed. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
