Sidney Arthur Hawkins (Sid), 76, was born in Columbia, SC July 2, 1944. He went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, February 6, 2021.
Sid loyally served his country for 37 ½ years through his career in the Air Force/SC Air National Guard. He retired from McEntire Air National Guard Base in 1999 as the Transportation Manager, attaining the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He enjoyed his work and loved his team.
If he loved you, he made you laugh. Always the jokester, he brought a sense of humor and a quick wit to all he encountered. He loved God, family, friends, his country, and his church. He served on many committees and worked to maintain the building during his many years of membership at Red Bank United Methodist Church. His passion to share the love of the Lord and serve others was demonstrated in his work with Emmaus of the Midlands. His Emmaus work and Emmaus friends were greatly loved and brought him joy.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 55 years, Gay Hawkins. She was his comfort and the love of his life. He is also survived by his beloved daughter, Suzette Hawkins Guest and son-in-law, Allen.
He was predeceased by his father, Colie Blease Hawkins, his mother Thelma Lovett Hawkins, and his sister Josephine Hawkins Spires.
A celebration of life will be held 2pm Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Red Bank United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Red Bank United Methodist Church (2909 Old Barnwell Road Lexington, SC 29073) or Emmaus of the Midlands (P.O.
