Seretha Gunter Sox

Funeral services for Seretha Koon Gunter Sox, 88, will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at Beulah Methodist Church (Gilbert) with Rev. Dr. Laura Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Beulah Methodist Church, 161 Beulah Church Road, Gilbert SC 29054. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Sox passed away Saturday, April 12, 2025. Born in Gilbert, she was a daughter of the late Harvel W. Koon Sr., and Lucille Ricard Koon. She was an active member of Beulah Methodist Church, where she served as church secretary, and retired from management with the federal land bank.

Surviving are husband, Roy W. Sox; sons, George Dewey Gunter III (Elaine), and Gregory D. Gunter (Diane); step-children, Nancy House (Lin), Robert Sox, Tim Sox (Cheryl), and Scott Sox; sisters, Thelma Meetze Keith, and Carolyn Toole; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her first husband, George D. Gunter Jr., a son, Eugene Garret Gunter Sr.; brothers, H.W. Koon Jr., Dub Metz, Luther P. Koon, and Morris Koon; and sisters, Louise Freeman, and Martha Kyzer.
