We lived in our mother and now our mother lives in us (Felicia Garvin). Sandra B. Simons, 79, born October 24, 1946, peacefully departed her earthly vessel on April 6, 2026 at home where she lived and loved.
Without fail and with the utmost conviction, our mother was constantly reminding everyone of life’s lessons. “Is it a need or a want?” and “you know what happened to the little boy that cried wolf”. We got this, Mom. You did good. Whether it was making her grandchildren’s favorite concoctions to eat, making cool, hot chocolate for her beloved grandson Colby, transporting potbellied pigs in the trunk of her Lumina, coddling her beloved poodle Pierre or recycling everything under the sun, our mother danced to the beat of an utterly unique drum. For this and her spirit, she was loved beyond measure.
Rest easy now Mom. You did your job and you did it well. We’ve got this. Never doubt that, or that you will be immeasurably missed.
Sandra was predeceased in life by her husband of 60 years, A.L. Simons (aka “Big L”), her mother Georgia Mae Bailey (Maw Maw), Her father Wilbur Gregory Bailey (Pa Pa), her sister Gayle Padgett (Uncle Larry) and her niece Blair Barrier-Beardon. She is survived by a sister Sheila Barrier (Uncle Bob, Barbie); three children: Scott Simons, Jill Sharpe (Kirk) and Lea Simons (Sherzy); four grandchildren: Madeline Williamson (Kyle), Colt Sharpe (Lindsey), Colby Sharpe (Katie), and Carrie Sharpe; and 8, and counting, great grandchildren.
The family would like to send a special and sincerest expression of gratitude to our mother’s earthly Angels and caregivers: Felcia Garvin (Greg), Helen Caudle, Ladazia (Daisy) Anderson and her sister-in-law Katherine Gunter (Uncle Gerald).
Remember Mom recycled. Flowers die she would say. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Boiling Springs Methodist Church. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Simons family with arrangements.
