Russell Ballington Shealy

Russell Ballington Shealy, “Big Dad” to his grandchildren, passed away on, Thursday,  May 5, 2022 at the age of 84. Russell was born on January 18, 1938 in Lexington, South Carolina, where he lived his entire life, served on city council, and raised his family. He studied at the University of South Carolina before starting his life-long career as an accountant.

Russell met his wife, Patricia McClure Shealy, and they married in 1961. They went on to have four children, Cindy Shealy Clark, Mickey Shealy, Edward Shealy, and Ellen Shealy Farmer. Russell cared for his family dearly and dedicated his life to supporting and loving them. In his spare time, Russell loved attending and watching Carolina Gamecock sports, spending time with his family, and eating desserts.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia McClure Shealy; his brother, Bruce Shealy; his daughter, Ellen Shealy Farmer; his sons-in-law, Darryl Farmer and Bill Clark; his daughter-in-law, Denise Moncrief; his grandchildren, Keri Patrick, Whitt Shealy, Davis Farmer, Riley Farmer, Morgan Clark, Kendall Farmer, and Phillip Shealy; and his great-grandchildren, Finn Farmer and Caleb Patrick.

Russell is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Juanell Ballington Shealy; his brother, Ernest Shealy; his sister, Ann Shealy Miles; and three children, Cindy Shealy Clark, Mickey Shealy, and Edward Shealy.

A memorial service will be held at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church on, Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 1pm. Visitation with the family will be held one hour before the service at 12 pm. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Mt. Tabor Playground Fund.
