Ruben Alger Gaites

Ruben Alger Gaites, 77, of Gilbert, SC, went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2025. He is predeceased by his wife of 43 years, Alice Velenia Mixon Gaites.

Ruben was born February 10, 1948, in Ridgeland, SC. He was the son of the late Norwood Gaites and Ruby Nell Cook Gaites. He is brother to Fonda Willams Clemons and the late Beverely “Teno” Gaites.

He is survived by his children, Ray Gaites, Deana Gaites Padgett, Christy (Jason) Gaebelein, and stepchildren, Theresa (Carl) Simmons, Richard Chamberlain, Ronald Chamberlain, and 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Ruben will be buried at Stafford Baptist Church in Furman on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 am. Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
