Roy L. Neese

Roy Laverne Neese, age 86, of Cayce, SC, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 14, 1938 in Swansea, he was the son of the late Johnson and Agnes Chavis Neese.  He was a devoted husband to Ann Neese for 62 years.  He was also a loving father to Selena (Robert) Lollar, Paige (Eddie) Wells and grandfather to Lauren Lollar (Jason), Joey Fraylick (Kirsten), Lindsay Lollar, and Abigayle Fraylick.  He was also survived by his brother, Carey Neese; sister, Brenda (Andy) Martin; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Willard, Raymond, Jack, and Carol Neese, and his sister, Patricia Lee. 

His quiet strength, steady presence, and unwavering love were the foundation of his family.  Roy had a quick wit and a unique ability to find humor in everyday moments.  He was never loud or showy, but his kindness, humility, and gentle way of being made a deep impact on everyone who knew him.  He brought comfort, calm, and joy into the lives of those around him - often in subtle, meaningful ways.  He told everyone he met that he loved them, and he meant it. He retired from Allied Chemical and was a US Air Force Veteran. 

He was a grateful and long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he found healing, purpose, and community.  Through his example and quiet encouragement, he helped many others find their path to sobriety.  His legacy of service and compassion lives on in the lives he touched.  

To know Roy was to feel safe, seen, and loved.  He was the kind of man who didn't seek attention, but who made a lasting difference just by being himself.  He will be deeply missed, but the love, wisdom, and quiet grace he shared will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.  

A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Edgewood Pentecostal Holiness Church, located at 1311 Victory Street, Columbia, South Carolina, 29204. A Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will take place following the service at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, South Carolina, 29209 with military rites. All services are under the direction of Barr-Price Funeral Homes & Crematorium (Lexington). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edgewood Pentecostal Holiness Church.
