Roger Kenneth Weinhold, 79, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Lexington, South Carolina, after leading a full and meaningful life. He was born on June 6, 1946, in Methuen, Massachusetts, to Burton “Burt” Ewald Weinhold and Eileen Lina (West) Weinhold.
Roger was raised in Pelham, New Hampshire, as the oldest of eight children. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War as a Petty Officer Second Class and Utilitiesman with the Seabees. After his military service, Roger worked for General Tire while attending night school and raising a young family. He spent the rest of his career as a tractor-trailer driver for Old Dominion Freight Line before retiring in 2011. Most recently, Roger volunteered at Lexington Medical Center, helping discharge parents and their newborn children.
In 1966, Roger met the love of his life, Carol Ann (Walker) Weinhold, through a mutual friend. They married the following year on May 27, and built a beautiful life together that took them to Salem, New Hampshire; Columbus, Mississippi; Valatie, New York; Villa Rica, Georgia; Lewiston, Maine; and finally, Lexington, South Carolina. Roger and Carol shared a love of the open road, driving tractor-trailers together cross-country. In retirement, they spent many years traveling the world and RVing across the United States.
Roger will be long remembered for his deep love of family, his passion for classic cars, and his adventurous spirit. He enjoyed traveling, as well as playing board and card games with those he loved. Roger was a lifelong Red Sox fan and an active member of American Legion Post #193, the Central South Carolina Mustang Club, and his neighborhood community. Above all, he was a gentle and devoted grandfather – affectionately known as “Rara” – whose warmth and steadiness touched all who knew him.
Roger is survived by his brothers, Kevin Paul and Bruce Alan Weinhold; sister, Lisa Ann Weinhold; children: Terence “Terry” Wayne Weinhold, Lisa Marie (Weinhold) Markovic-Rollin, Scott Herbert Weinhold, and Tina Marie (Weinhold) Griffin; grandchildren: Halida Marie Markovic, Damon Scott Weinhold, Victoria Marie Rollin, and Raven Lyn Griffin; great-grandchild, Azure Annabelle Stewart; his beloved dog, Dolly; and a multitude of dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; parents, Burt and Eileen; sisters: Donna Lou (Weinhold) Wrenn, Linda Karen (Weinhold) Carson, Pamela “Pam” Jane (Weinhold) Vasquez, and Debra “Debbie” Jean (Weinhold) Hoffman; and granddaughter, Isabella Marie Rollin.
A proud veteran, Roger faced life’s many challenges with resilience and strength. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America at https://vva.org/.
A celebration of life for Roger Kenneth Weinhold will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Barr Price Funeral Home, 609 Northwood Rd, Lexington, SC 29072. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and honor a life well-lived.
