Rocky Laymon Snelgrove, 66, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, November 20, 2021. He was born in Columbia, SC on June 18, 1955 to the late Meetze Laymon (M.L.) and Frances Harmon Snelgrove.
Rocky graduated from Lexington High School and worked with his parents managing Snelgrove’s Landing on Lake Murray. He also repaired boats and motors in his shop at the landing.
He is survived by his son, Rusty Ray (Kelsea) Snelgrove; step-son, Jonathan Weed; sister, Janet S. (Eddie) Wiggins; 2 grandchildren, Colton and Braylin Snelgrove; step grandchild, Addison Weed; and three nephews. He is predeceased by one sister, Linda Kay Snelgrove.
Rocky loved his family deeply, and his “grands” were his pride and joy. He loved hunting, fishing and being outdoors where he felt the closest to his Lord and Savior.
While his time on earth was cut way too short, we know he is having the reunion of a lifetime walking on the streets of gold with his parents, grandparents, sister and all those that have gone before him where there is no sorrow, hurting, or tears. His absence in our lives will be deep and endless.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peters Church Boy Scout Troop at 1130 St. Peters Rd., Lexington, SC 29072.
A memorial service is being planned and will be announced after Thanksgiving.
Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
