Robert “Bob” Maloney, a man of unwavering strength and remarkable character, passed away on May 4th, 2025. Born on August 6th, 1930 in Concord, NH, Robert spent his 94 years enveloping life with an unquenchable spirit and unparalleled love for his family. He is survived by his wife, Charletta Maloney, and preceded in death by his parents, John, Jr. and Diane Maloney. He was “Grandpa” to Laurence Maloney, Jamie Roberts, Holly Carraway and Elizabeth Voelker. Robert was known as a man who dedicated his entire life to hard work, perseverance and integrity. He spent his professional life first at Tamper Industries and after leaving there as warehouse manager at Bonitz Construction Company until his retirement. In addition to working full time he volunteered many weekends with the Kairos Prison Ministry. His commitment to his work and to Kairos was a testament to his character, a trait that permeated every aspect of his life.
Robert made his home in Lexington, South Carolina, where he built a life full of love with his wife, Charletta. He had a smile that could light up the darkest room and a sense of humor that could make anyone laugh. He was a man of few words but when he spoke everyone listened. He loved sports and game shows and spent many hours watching football, basketball, golf and game shows on TV after his retirement. His grandchildren and neighbors enjoyed visiting with him as he smoked his favorite pipe on the back deck of his home. His spirit, resilience and love for life will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
A service and graveside memorial will be held beginning at 11:00am on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Lexington.
