Robert "Bob" Louis McDaniel

Robert "Bob" Louis McDaniel, 91, of Lexington, SC, passed away May 29th, 2026, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca McDaniel; children Katherine (Robert) Schilling, Stephanie (SM) Mayo, Larry (Rhonda) Dring, and David (Diana) Dring; grandchildren Caroline Folker, Rachel Schilling, Tricia Dring, Kaitlyn Schilling, Haley Dring, Sarah Schilling, Sophia Mayo, Sam Mayo, and Ben Dring; and a great granddaughter, Aurora Folker. He is preceded in death by his parents, older brother, Edgar, and first wife, Helen.

Born in Augusta, GA, Mr. McDaniel graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in chemical engineering and attended the University of Tennessee for graduate school. He spent his career in textile research and development and retired from DuPont. When he and his wife weren’t traveling domestically or internationally, they were energetic members of their communities and congregations. Mr. and Mrs. McDaniel enjoyed volunteering at Samaritans Purse Ministries, The Cove at Billy Graham Ministries, and various other community museums and organizations. Mr. McDaniel was a deacon at Summerville Baptist Church and at Mars Hill Baptist Church. While living in Summerville, SC, he served as the Summerville Band Booster Club president. He also served for many years on the Charleston Southern University Board of Visitors. During their time in Maryville, TN, they were devoted members of Fairview Methodist Church.

Bob McDaniel was well loved and respected by many friends and family. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, June 5, 2026, at Mt. Horeb Methodist Church in Lexington, SC with interment at 12:30PM at Lexington Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Mr. McDaniel to Samaritan’s Purse Ministries. Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is assisting the family.
