Richard "Dick" Hitt Obituary

Richard “Dick” Hitt, 81, of Lexington, South Carolina, passed away on November 13, 2025.

He spent his life serving the aviation community as both a professional and enthusiast pilot and was inducted into the South Carolina Aviation Hall of Fame in 1999. He was also a passionate Boy Scout leader and humorist who loved his family, his Irish heritage, and his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace and Raymond Hitt; and his son, Michael P. Hitt.

Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Judy C. Hitt; his sons, Matthew (Rebecca) Hitt, with granddaughter Lillian, and Adam (Ashley Konon) Hitt.

Services will be held at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church in Columbia, South Carolina, at 10:00 AM on November 21st. A reception at the church fellowship hall will follow. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his memory to Mission Lexington at www.missionlexingtonsc.org. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.
