Richard Eugene Cobia

Richard Eugene Cobia, age 62, was taken home to his Savior Monday, September 20, 2021.

A Memorial Service for Richard will be held 11AM, Friday, September 24th at Springdale Baptist Church, 357 Wattling Road, West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 10AM – 11AM. In lieu of flowers, we request donations be made in Richard's honor to the Springdale Baptist Transportation Fund. 

Richard was born September 1, 1959 in Columbia, SC to Drennon Louise Rogers Cobia and the late Eugene Alva Cobia. Raised in West Columbia, SC, Richard was a graduate of Airport High School's class of 1977, going on to be a Master Automotive Technician, and traveling the world with his wife, Marlene. He loved cars, racing, fishing, his family and his church.

A devoted, fun-loving and warm-hearted man, Richard never met a stranger. He'd remember your face, name, family members and how you met from 20 years ago, just by passing him in a grocery store. Richard's extensive knowledge in all areas, outgoing servant spirit and never-ending jokes, made him a man we will all remember and truly miss.

In addition to his mother, Richard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marlene Amick Cobia, whom he married at Springdale Baptist Church; daughters, Candice "Candy" (Phillip) Jones, Amber (Robert) Fort; siblings, Michael Cobia, Haston "Al" Cobia, Frances (Danny) Roberts; and six grandchildren, Elias, Ethan, Mikayla, Evie, Delilah and Darla.

He was predeceased by his sibling, Letha (Keith) Dwiggins.
