Rev. Astor "Junior" Jacobs, Jr. Obituary

Astor (Junior) L.  Jacobs, Jr. of West Columbia, SC passed away July 29, 2020 at the age of 80.

Mr. Jacobs was born in Gibson, NC to the late Carletha Chavis Jacobs Potter and Astor L. Jacobs, Sr.

Junior graduated from Fruitland Baptist Bible Institute in Hendersonville, N.C. He also proudly served and retired from the S.C. National Guard. After serving in several Churches he returned to his home Church, Red Bank Baptist Church in Lexington, SC as the Pastoral Chaplain from which he retired. He continued to serve by visiting and ministering to the shut-ins in the Community.  He also volunteered at Pine Ridge Center for many years. Junior was a Great man of Faith and a humble servant. He never met a stranger and had many talents. He enjoyed gardening and he loved his family. He enjoyed taking care of his grandson (Hunter) and as he would say “raised him.”  He never missed a baseball game if he and Joyce were able to attend. He loved face timing with his grandson Rhett and they enjoyed the ice cream socials they had at night when Rhett would visit.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Horton Jacobs of West Columbia, SC; son, Mike Jacobs (Sharon) of Powder Springs, GA;  a daughter, Lisa Jacobs Lomas (Scott) of Blythewood, SC;  two special grandsons, his buddies, Hunter Lomas and Rhett Jacobs; brothers, James Jacobs (Carolyn) of Gilbert, SC, Rev. Carvie Jacobs (Linda) of Jefferson, GA, Robert Jacobs (Lynn) of Cayce, SC, Angus Jacobs (Joyce) of West Columbia, SC; and  a sister, Carletha Jacobs Coulter (Ronnie) of Gilbert, SC;  as well as many special nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank the many Doctors and Staff that have cared for Junior. Especially Dr. Robert Schulze and Dr. Greg Konduros.

The Jacobs Family would like to thank you for the outpouring of love that you have shown us during this time. Your calls, cards, visits and many kind gestures have been a special blessing. GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.
