Raynell Wingard
Aug. 2, 1928 - Aug.30, 2025
Raynell, known as “Pop” to most, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30 with his devoted family by his side. He was the son of Arthur and Mazzie (Risinger) Wingard. Pop had various jobs over the years, but spent twenty years at the Columbia Mill. From a very humble beginning he became quite the entrepreneur. He sold, repaired, and towed automobiles, all while building a beautiful life for his wife and 4 children. He was married to Yvonne Price Wingard, the love of his life, for 75 years. Losing her was his hardest battle and he longed to be with her again. Their life was a story of hard work, love, and devotion. He reminded us daily it was by the grace of God that they succeeded in life. He was a former member of Westside Baptist and also the Springdale Masonic Lodge.
Even though he may have slowed down, one week before passing he was active, riding his Gator and checking his garden. He was the rock of our family and although he is now with his sweetheart, we will miss him dearly. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Donna) Wingard and Larry (Cathy) Wingard; daughters, Reba (Jan) Beaver and Kathy (Rob) Whetzel; sister, Clara Porter; grandchildren, Jackie (Todd) Lindstrom, Reed (Alison) Wingard, Kim (Kevin) Eubanks, Brandon (Amber) Wingard, Brian (Brittany) Wingard, Amanda (Brian Fuller) Love, Jeb (Anna) Beaver, Scott (Stacey) Beaver, Angela (Todd) McElwee , Chad (Megan) Benenhaley; and 23 awesome great grands. He was predeceased by brothers, Alfred, Tom, William, Dock, Sam and Arthur (Dick) Wingard and sisters, Ever Lou (Evalou) Oswald and Lorine Taylor Sharpe.
Visitation will be at 12 noon with the service to follow at 1:00 pm Friday, September 5th at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will be held at Southland Memorial Gardens, West Columbia, SC. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to your church or favorite charity.
