Rachel Rochell "Shelly" Johnson Tidwell

Rachel Rochell Johnson Tidwell, 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

Beloved child of God Rachel Rochell “Shelly” Johnson Tidwell went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 80, surrounded by loved ones peacefully in her own home. Mrs. Tidwell was born August 20, 1943, in Olympia, South Carolina to the late Reverend J.D. Johnson and Rachel Johnson.  She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. The simplest pleasures in life brought joy to Mrs. Tidwell. She loved nothing more than ministering and being a witness to others of the good news of Jesus. She had a passion for helping anyone in her life who needed her help. She never turned anyone away and loved people fiercely.

Mrs. Tidwell is survived by her beloved Husband Richard Tidwell of Batesburg- Leesville, SC; Son Chris Tidwell (Robin) of Lexington, SC; Daughter Cindy West (Jeff), of Batesburg-Leesville, SC; Grandchildren, Jayde McCurley (Brittany) of Wilmington, NC and their children Jaxon, Natalie, and Benjamin; Brooklyn Frye (Gary) of Duncan, SC and their children Bryson and Blayklee; Reid Tidwell of Greenville, SC; Benjamin Tidwell of Nashville, TN; Margie Grace Tidwell of Washington DC; Brother David Johnson (Judy) and their children Joni and Joy. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, PO Box 21003, Columbia, SC 29221. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the family.

Graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Southland Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
