Phyllis Taft

Phyllis Taft, 88 of Gaston SC, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022.  She was born March 1, 1934, in Kalazamo, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Carl A Taft and Grace May Warren Taft. 

Phyllis is survived by her three  daughters; Stella Urban (Jerry) of Sandy Run, SC, Teresa Helms (Lavern) of Swansea, SC and Karen Darr of  Swansea, SC; one step-son, Douglas Kirkland (Tracy) of Gaston, SC; one step-daughter, Denise Burns (Tony) of Swansea, SC ; brothers,  David Manners (Shirl) of Jenison, MI, Noland Jamieson (Jeanie) of  Freemont, MI;  sisters,  Mary Kay Shivley (Maynard) of Wasilla, Alaska, Carolina Gibson (James) of Allegan,  MI. She is preceded in death by two daughters; Tina Gladden and Sandra Burrell; sisters,  June Vanmarren, Georgia Sheffield, Nancy Barker; one brother, Lloyd Veldhuis. 

She has 14 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday,  October 1, 2022 at 11:00 am, at  Beulah UMC,  1577 Old State Road Gaston, SC 29053. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Lexington Chapel is assisting the family.

Phyllis worked at American Tool and Die the last 25 years of her life. The employees of American Tool and Die were not just co-workers they were her extended family. The family wishes to thank all the employees at American Tool and Die for all the love they had for her.
