Phillip “Phil” David Lamm of Lexington, South Carolina, died peacefully at his home on July 30th, 2019. Phil was born August 16th, 1950 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Donald L. and Undine L. Lamm of Bailey, North Carolina. Survivors include his wife Teena of 46 years, daughter Kelly and son-in-law Rodney Wood; brother W. Franklin Lamm (Jane) of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; sister Donna L. Poindexter of Burlington, North Carolina; brother-in-law Richard R. Jarman, Sr of Gastonia, North Carolina, and many special nieces and nephews. Phil was predeceased by his sister, Kerry L. Jarman.
Phil graduated from Southern Nash High School in Bailey, North Carolina, in 1969. Immediately upon graduation, Phil joined the United States Air Force where he faithfully served his country for 20 years at Tan Son Nhut Air Base, South Vietnam; Langley Air Force Base, Virginia; Hill Air Force Base, Utah; Andersen Air Base, Guam; Ramstein Air Base, Germany; and Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. After retiring from the Air Force, Phil worked for 7 years at Bryan Law Firm in Sumter, South Carolina. He then joined the civil service ranks with the United States Air Forces Central Command, Shaw Air Force Base, where he served as a logistics planner for 15 years.
Phil loved to spend time with family and friends; he also enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, playing cards and board games, working in the yard, bowling, going to the beach, working Sudoko puzzles, walking his beloved dog, Cody, and cheering on the Carolina Tar Heels.
A celebration of Phil’s life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the local humane society or ASPCA.
