Patricia B. "Pat" Cowell Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Patricia B. "Pat" Cowell, of Pelion, South Carolina, on January 15, 2026. She was born in Greenville, SC, on April 27, 1938, to the late Wells and Blanche (Nana) Ballentine.

Pat is survived by her son, Gregory Cowell (Kelly) and daughter, Lisa Long (Mike); grandchildren: Melissa (Jim) Graves and S. Greg (Victoria) Cowell; great-grandchildren: Cameron Long, Alyssa Long, Samantha Long, RG Cowell, and Susie Graves; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth T. Ballentine. She is also survived by her bonus family: Ann Stockman Nicholson, Renee Nicholson Rushton and Haylie Rushton.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, David Roy Cowell; her brother, Chevis Fulmer Ballentine and his wife, Emily; her brother, Donald Wells Ballentine; and her sister, Marjorie Irene Price (Lawrence).  

Pat dedicated her professional life as a Cost Accountant at Fort Jackson, where her meticulous nature and strong work ethic were highly valued. Beyond her professional life, Pat's heart was truly revealed in her involvement with St. James Lutheran Church, the Red Haters of Jasmin Chapter, the Capitol City Shag Club, the Palmetto Shag Club, the Sunshine Club at Boiling Springs UMC and Carolina Wrens Camping Club. Pat's life was one of service, love, and joy and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. 

The family will receive friends on Monday, January 19, 2026, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will be private.
