Patricia Ann Shelton

Patricia Ann Shelton, age 82, of Cayce, SC entered the gates of Heaven on Saturday, January 7, 2023 surrounded by her family at home.

Pat was born at home in Orient, OH on April 23, 1940, the first of three daughters to her parents, Frank and Bernice. She grew up in Grove City, OH and was a 1958 graduate of Darby High School. She worked briefly in a meat packing plant before she married,  Ronald Gene Shelton,  on January 16, 1960 in Darbydale, OH. They moved to Kankakee, IL where Ron attended Olivet Nazarene College and they had their first two children, Ronita and Cathy. Later they moved back to Ohio for a few years, where their son, David, was born, before moving to Canton, IL.

Pat worked briefly in the Canton School District but preferred to be home when her kids came home from school. She also took several classes at Spoon River Community College. Pat attended St. David Church of the Nazarene where she volunteered as church treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and VBS director. She loved being at home as a homemaker, mother, and was a great cook. She loved crafting, sewing, painting, and cross-stitch. She also loved gardening and canning food for the winter.

In the summer of 1982, Pat and Ron moved to South Carolina, where they resided for the past 39 years and attended Columbia First Church of the Nazarene. Pat volunteered for several years at a local food bank. However, her passion was crafting and being a hands-on Nana to her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron, on Sept 7, 2022, and by her parents.

Pat is survived by her three children; Ronita Fox of Cayce, SC, Cathy (Ron) Carlson of Greenville, SC, & David (Karen) Shelton of Cayce, SC; 9 grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew, Katelyn, Nick, Ben, Cassi, Amy, Ashley, and Parker; 10 great-grandchildren; Baylea, Cory, Emilia, Braxton, Payton, Layla, David, Harper, Atlee, and Declan, sisters; Shirley (Garnett) Hicks of London, OH and, Kate Gilliam of Swansea, SC, cousins; Sharon (Phil) Reynolds,  Melva Hall and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service for both Ron and Pat will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023 at 2 pm at the Columbia First Church of the Nazarene. The family will receive friends and family from 1pm to 2 pm.
