A Celebration of Life for Odell Roy Barnes, 73, will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic B-L Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Barnes passed away Thursday, September 14, 2023. Born in Lexington County on July 2, 1950 to Odell and Margie Barnes of Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, he graduated from Airport High School in 1968. He worked in fencing and exterminating with his dad before taking over the business and making it AllState Construction, owning the business for over 30 years. He was a past president of the Greater Midland Pest Control Association, the Jaycees and an avid philanthropist for Camp Kemo. He was a huge Gamecock fan, loved Lake Murray and the mountains. He enjoyed going to breakfast with his high school buddies on Thursdays. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger.
He survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Susan V. Barnes; their five children, Travis, Eric, Deidre, Shawn Hutchins, and Jennifer (Justin) Silver. He has nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one on the way. He has one surviving sister Gale (David) Gantt. He is also survived by his brother-in-laws, Ronny Varnadoe (Melinda), Carroll Varnadoe (Irene) and a sister-in-law, Janice Phipps (Mark). He is now reunited with his mother and father, sister, Sherry, McMeekin, brother, Steve Barnes, Sr., sister-in-law, Novell Barnes, nephew, Steve Barnes, Jr., and In-laws, Aaron McKenzie & Willene Varnadoe. He has 23 nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all.
