Mama Snap, as she was affectionately known, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2025, surrounded by those who loved her most. Born in Saluda County, she was the daughter of the late Levi Lester and Maggie Ione Lorick Shealy.
A lifelong woman of faith, she was a devoted member of Clyde’s Chapel Southern Methodist Church, where she shared her heart and time as a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and as a Sunday School teacher. Her unwavering dedication to her church and her community was a reflection of her deep and enduring love for others. Mama Snap was not only a pillar of her church but also of her town. For nearly 40 years, she welcomed generations through the doors of Snap’s Beauty Shop, which she proudly owned and operated in Batesburg from 1961 to 2000.
With her warm spirit, listening ear, and steady hands, she made her beauty shop much more than a business—it was a place of laughter, friendship, and comfort. Following the closing of Snap’s Beauty Shop, Mama Snap continued to bring smiles and joy to many in the salon at Generations of Batesburg. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and family.
Cherishing her memory are her son, Jeffrey Taylor (Kim); grandchildren Andrea Derrick (Clay), Chance Taylor (Misty), Elizabeth Taylor (Mike), Stefan Taylor (Megan), and Lauren Taylor Dreher (Dustin); great-grandchildren Chandler Williams, Jill Cromer (Cole), Gracie Taylor, Gabbie Taylor, Gage Taylor, Gavin Taylor, and Bear Dreher; and great-great-grandchildren Briggs Cromer and Nash Cromer.
She was reunited in eternal rest with her beloved husband, Hasford Woodrow Taylor; her dear son, Elliott Taylor; and her brother, Richard Shealy. Mama Snap was a walking testimony. She gave all the praise and glory to her Lord Jesus for sustaining her, so she could honor Him by telling someone else that He would do the same for them if they would trust and believe. She was a prayer warrior and lived nearly a century with grace, grit, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. Her warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength will be deeply missed but remembered always.
The family will be at the home of Jeffrey Taylor (Kim) 243 Elizabeth Street, Batesburg, SC 29006
