Norma Holston Obituary

Norma Jean Holston

Norma Jean Holston was born on March 7, 1942 in Bluefield, West Virginia. She peacefully passed away on March 24, 2025.  The beloved daughter of Lewis and Magdalene Glover, Norma was the youngest of four daughters. She was preceded in death by her mother and her sisters, Thelma and Bertha.

Norma married George Ralph Quarles in 1959, and together they moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where they built a life and raised their children, Sopheia and George. Later, she found love once more and married Parnell Holston in 1987, who preceded her in death. Norma worked diligently in the meat department of a grocery chain and excelled as a successful real estate agent, earning recognition for her outstanding skills in listed and selling homes to support her family. Norma’s grandmother introduced her to the “Truth,” inspiring her to dedicate her life to Jehovah and be baptized in Cleveland in 1983 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Norma’s faithfulness to her Bible readings, dedication to the Kingdom Hall, and daily practice of the Golden Rule exemplify the values she held dear.  Her greatest joy was seeing her daughter, Sopheia, become dedicated and baptized to Jehovah. Her humble desire was to see as much of her family as possible serve Jehovah.  Her life was a testament to her unwavering faith, kindness, and lover for others-abeautiful legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Norma lived life with zest and joy. She adored animals, delighted in cooking for loved ones (earning fame for her hot buttered rolls and macaroni and cheese), and embraced beauty and style with her fabulous hats and stunning outfits. Traveling, singing, and enjoying basketball were just a few of the passions that added vibrancy to her days.

Norma’s legacy of love is carried on by her daughter, Sopheia Quarles, and son, George Quarles. Her memory will also be forever cherished by her grandchildren, “Carshae Jenkins”, “George Quarles, Jr.,” “Arnet Quarles”, “Ambrosia Wilson (James)”, “Asia Smith”, and “Millenia Duncan”. Norma’s beloved sister, Savannah Church, along with her nieces and nephews, “Magdalene, Tabitha, Xenakis, Fred (deceased), Bonnie, Pat and great-grandsons, Adrien, August, and Jasper.”
