Nelda Clamp Wessinger

Mrs. Nelda Ruth Clamp Wessinger, 86, entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 9, 2026. She was born on August 12, 1939 in Lexington County, South Carolina to the late Julian and Roxie Rikard Clamp. Nelda worked in the medical field where she was a nurse’s aide at the former Baptist Hospital in Columbia. Nelda also worked in the aluminum manufacturing industry for Loxcreen in West Columbia as an operator and assembler. Devoted to her faith, she loved the Lord and was a member of Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church. Nelda found joy in playing the piano, and singing Alto. She also was a coffee connoisseur.

Surviving are her brothers, Herbert Clamp and Edward Clamp; sisters, Retha Drafts, Mary Drafts, and Linda Wessinger. Nelda is predeceased by her husband, Julius “Jake” Wessinger; and a sister, Trannie Christmas.

A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbia First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 243 Riverchase Way, Lexington SC 29072. Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville Chapel is assisting the Wessinger family with arrangements.
