Nancy Shealy Slade Obituary

In Loving Memory of Nancy Shealy Slade born in Lexington County, SC February 7, 1949 and living the majority of her life in Gilbert, SC and Batesburg-Leesville, SC.

Nancy Shealy Slade, a woman of unwavering love and resilience, passed away peacefully at home on April 7, 2025 after a period of declining health. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who cherished those she loved with all her heart.

Nancy was the widow of Tommy Langston and the former wife of Eugene Slade. She spent her life caring for others, whether as a homemaker, during her years working at Bill’s Grill and Lexington One, or simply in the countless ways she showed up for family and friends. A woman of faith, she was a member of Mt. Ebal for many years.

In her later years, Nancy resided in Lexington, SC, close to her beloved daughters, Cindy Slade Bartolec (David) and Lynn Slade Roberts (Darin). Her greatest joy in life was her six grandchildren—Marina Bartolec, Genya Bartolec, Christian Slade, Sydney Slade (Hunter), Zach Cole Jordan, and Alex Shealy (Carrie)—who not only filled her life with happiness but also lovingly helped care for her in her final years. She adored her 6 great grandchildren and loved her time with them and her 2 step-grandchildren (Justin Roberts (Rebekah) and Talor Roberts). She is also survived by her son-in-law, Neal Shealy (husband of her beloved late daughter Shirley Shealy). She was profoundly grateful for the kindness and support of her family and dear friends who stood by her side through life’s challenges.

Nancy’s love, warmth, humor and appreciation for those around her will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her family finds comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her. Those include her daughter, Shirley Slade Shealy; Tommy Langston and Eugene Slade; her siblings, Lorine Oswald, Mary Jane Gunter, John Henry Shealy and Homer Lee Shealy; and parents Leona Poole Shealy and Paul J. Shealy.

A service to celebrate Nancy’s life will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Joy Mission Church, 179 Midway Road, Lexington, SC 29072. The family welcomes friends to join them in remembering the beautiful life she lived. If you would like, you are welcome to wear red—Nancy’s favorite color—as a tribute to her life and joyful spirit.
