Nancy Caroline Padgett, 74, of Lexington, passed away unexpectedly at her home on June 28, 2025.
Born August 18, 1950, in Saluda, she was the daughter of Hardy and Frances Crouch. Nancy taught at St. Matthews Elementary School for 35 years before continuing her work as a childcare specialist in Lexington.
She is survived by her husband, Rick D. Padgett; her daughter, Ashley C. Padgett (Jason Steelman) of Greenville; and two brothers, Sammy Crouch (Peggy) of Gilbert and James Hardy Crouch (Alicia) of Saluda.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Katie Padgett, and her mother, Frances Crouch.
Nancy lived with rare sincerity and quiet strength, especially with the animals which she protected with unwavering devotion.
She was gentle and strong and loved those closest to her fiercely.
Rest in peace, and know that you are deeply missed. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
